From the employerJOB SUMMARY As an Estate, Gift, and Trust Staff, you will contribute to delivering exceptional tax services to high-net-worth individuals, families, and their advisors. This role involves preparing and analyzing estate, gift, and trust tax returns, supporting tax planning strategies, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws. You will work collaboratively with a team of experienced professionals in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Tax Compliance: Prepare and review estate, gift, and trust tax returns (Forms 706, 709, and 1041). Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations Verify and document tax-related information accurately and comprehensively Tax Planning and Analysis: Assist in crafting strategies for wealth transfer, minimizing tax liabilities, and preserving client assets Analyze financial data to support planning decisions tailored to client needs Client Engagement: Work directly with clients, attorneys, and financial advisors to gather required information and ensure seamless service delivery Provide clear, timely communication to address client questions and concerns Research and Technical Expertise: Conduct in-depth research on estate, gift, and trust tax laws and emerging trends Assist in drafting memos or reports on tax implications and strategies Collaboration and Process Improvement: Work collaboratively within the tax team to deliver high-quality work products Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency in tax return preparation and planning services Supervisory responsibilities N/A Work environment Work is conducted in a professional office environment with minimal distractions Physical demands Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and performing work in front of a computer screen for long periods of time Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time Travel required Travel may be frequent and unpredictable, depending on client’s needs Required education and experience Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field 1+ year of relevant experience Minimum 5 accounting classes, one individual income tax class, one business law class Preferred education and experience Possession of or actively working towards professional certification(s) such as CPA, Enrolled Agent, LLM, CFP, MST, or Juris Doctor (JD) Responsible for completing the minimum CPE credit requirement Software: Axcess Tax, Axcess Document, Axcess Workstream, Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS, Checkpoint for Tax Research Other duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the colleague for this job.
