Trade Compliance Specialist (Classification)

- Performs a variety of activities and serves as a subject matter expert ensuring
- the company supply chain fully complies with International Traffic in Arms
- Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and all other local,
- national and international regulatory requirements.
Principal Responsibilities
- Work with Supplier Product Management (SPM) team to obtain the original
supplier’s trade classification (Export Control Classification Number (ECCN)
and Harmonized System (HS) Code).
- Verify trade classification data from supplier’s website, price book etc. for
Avnet new part number creation.
- Align supplier’s trade classification data in accordance with US, EU, and
Asia Dual-Use Control Lists (i.e., HK, TW, CN, SG etc.).
- Determine appropriate HS Codes for new parts creation.
- Maintain the verified trade classification data (ECCN/HS Code) in SAP (GTS).
- Track updates in trade classification and maintain in SAP (GTS) periodically.
- Support business with enquiries pertaining to trade classification and
licensing status.
- Ensure timely review & release of daily blocked transactions in SAP-GTS.
- Assist the manager in the development and maintenance of Global Compliance
procedures/SOPs.
- Monitor emerging trends and regulations updates from US/EU/Asia Government
laws and regulations that impact Avnet’s trade classification.
- Perform data analysis to support business/supplier’s trade classification
initiatives.
- Deliver training programs to frontline SPM team on trade classification
process requirements.
- Periodic review of trade classification data accuracy.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, procedures and other key
performance metrics.
- Other duties & projects as assigned.
Job Level Specifications
- Foundational knowledge of specialized disciplines, industry practices and
standards, acquired via academic instruction and/or relevant work experience
of substantially the same level.
- Develops solutions to defined tasks, typical assignments and projects. May be
solved by the application of specialized foundational knowledge, using
existing approaches and solutions.
- Work is usually performed independently and requires the exercise of judgment
and discretion. Receives initial direction although work may be reviewed for
accuracy and quality.
- Collaborates with immediate management and team members within the department
or function.
- Actions typically affect own work assignments and department. Erroneous
decisions or failure to accomplish work may require some assistance or
resources to remedy.
Work Experience
- Preferably 2 years’ experience in import/export customs and trade compliance
operations.
- Fresh graduates welcome as on-the-job training will be provided.
Education and Certification(s)
- Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Logistics, Business, or a related
discipline

- Possess strong analytical skills
- Willing to learn & proactive
- SAP experience a plus
- Ability to read the Chinese language a definite plus
