**Job Summary:**

The Transportation & Customs Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational management of transportation, freight, and customs activities across Andros North America. This role ensures the safe, compliant, and cost-effective movement of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods while maintaining high service levels and regulatory compliance.

The position provides leadership for carrier management, freight procurement, transportation optimization, import/export compliance, customs brokerage relationships, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Transportation & Customs Manager serves as the company's subject matter expert for transportation and customs regulations while supporting broader supply chain network and logistics strategies.

**Essential Functions and Responsibilities** **:**

**Transportation Management**

  • Lead all outbound, intercompany, and international transportation activities.
  • Develop transportation strategies that optimize service, cost, capacity, and reliability.
  • Manage transportation providers, brokers, and freight partners to ensure performance expectations are achieved.
  • Oversee freight procurement activities, including carrier selection, contract negotiations, and rate management.
  • Monitor transportation performance and implement corrective actions to address service failures.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on freight cost reduction, service enhancement, and network optimization.

**Customs & Trade Compliance**

  • Manage all import and export compliance activities across North America.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with trade regulations.
  • Maintain accurate tariff classifications, country-of-origin documentation, and customs records.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and implement processes to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Lead duty optimization and trade compliance initiatives to minimize risk and reduce costs.

**Carrier & Broker Management**

  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with transportation providers.
  • Negotiate transportation contracts, service agreements, and freight rates.
  • Monitor carrier scorecards and drive accountability for service, cost, and compliance performance.
  • Evaluate transportation capacity and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions.

**Performance Management & Analytics**

  • Develop and manage KPIs related to transportation cost, service, customs compliance, and carrier performance.
  • Analyze freight spend, lane utilization, and transportation trends to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Utilize transportation and reporting systems to provide visibility and actionable insights.
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting related to transportation expenses.

**Cross-Functional Collaboration**

  • Partner with Planning, Procurement, Manufacturing, Warehouse Operations, Customer Service, and Finance to ensure alignment across the supply chain.
  • Support network design, warehouse strategy, and future-state transportation initiatives.

**Leadership & Continuous Improvement**

  • Lead and develop transportation and logistics personnel.
  • Establish standardized transportation and customs processes across all operating locations.
  • Champion a culture of safety, accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead transportation-related projects, system implementations, and process enhancements.

**Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:**

  • Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, International Trade, or related field preferred.
  • 5-8+ years of progressive transportation, logistics, and customs experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing carriers, brokers, and transportation providers.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, import/export procedures, and trade compliance.
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and freight analytics.
  • Experience negotiating transportation contracts and managing freight spend.
  • Strong understanding of DOT, FMCSA, CBP, FDA, USDA, and international trade regulations.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional leadership abilities.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational execution.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and transportation reporting skills.
  • Familiarity with LTL, FTL, and parcel freight billing practices, rate structures, and common accessorial charges.
  • Experience working with a TMS, ERP, or freight carrier portal
  • Strong analytical and data reconciliation skills — ability to work with large invoice datasets and identify discrepancies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, basic data manipulation required).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage a high volume of invoice records.
  • Ability to communicate findings clearly in written summary format for leadership review.
  • Regular and reliable attendance required.
  • Uphold and promote food safety and quality standards by adhering to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, and actively supporting a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

The Transportation Invoice Audit Specialist will work in an administrative environment at the Andros North America facility in Edinburg, VA. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
