VAT Accountant

Sensata Technologies is a global leader in the automotive industry, with a strong presence across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. We are looking for a talented and driven professional to join our Tax team in Sofia. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting VAT and Intrastat reporting across Europe, contributing to high-impact processes in a dynamic, international environment.

General Responsibilities

Prepare and submit accurate VAT returns in accordance with local tax regulations and deadlines.

Prepare and submit intrastat reports

Ensure compliance with VAT laws, directives, and regulatory requirements.

Calculate VAT liabilities and ensure correct posting in accounting systems.

Perform regular reconciliations of VAT accounts and investigate discrepancies.

Review financial transactions to ensure correct VAT treatment (domestic, intra-community, import/export).

Prepare documentation and provide support during internal and external VAT audits.

Respond to inquiries from tax authorities in a timely and accurate manner.

Support other departments (Finance, Procurement, Sales) with VAT-related queries.

Maintain proper VAT documentation and ensure audit trail is complete and compliant.

Education & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field

Experience

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in accounting
• Experience handling VAT reporting is an advantage
• Technical Skills & Knowledge
• Knowledge of VAT regulations is an advantage
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)

• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
• Communication & Interpersonal Skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to collaborate effectively with TAX authorities

Gross Annual Salary Range

• 20,779.00 EUR - 28,571.40 EUR
• The salary range is published in line with the EU Pay Transparency Directive and relevant country legislation.

• Starting Salary

The starting salary offered will be based on objective, gender-neutral criteria , (e.g internal equivalency, relevant skills, experience, qualifications etc.). Applicants will not be asked for salary history.
