Corporate Tax in Malaysia refers to the direct tax levied on the profits of companies and other business entities operating within the country. It encompasses the assessment, reporting, and payment of income tax in accordance with the Malaysian Income Tax Act 1967.
The Malaysian Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) is the primary agency responsible for corporate tax administration. The current corporate income tax rate is generally 24% for resident and non-resident companies, with a tiered rate structure for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) where the first RM150,000 of chargeable income is taxed at 15% and the subsequent RM450,000 at 17%. Companies are required to file estimated tax payable and make instalment payments.
