Trueline, a nationally established, vertically integrated real estate development company, is seeking a Tax Manager to join their team in Nashville, TN. This is an opportunity for an experienced partnership tax professional to take ownership of a sophisticated tax function supporting a diverse portfolio of real estate development, multifamily, mixed-use, and residential investments.

Reporting to senior financial leadership, you'll serve as the internal tax expert and primary liaison between the company's accounting team and outside tax advisors. The right person brings strong partnership tax experience, understands complex multi-entity structures, and can move comfortably between compliance, planning, research, and strategic tax initiatives.

What You'll Do as the Tax Manager

  • Manage federal, state, and other required tax compliance across a complex real estate organization
  • Oversee third-party tax preparers and review outsourced tax work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Coordinate partnership tax filings and supporting calculations, with particular emphasis on Form 1065 returns
  • Evaluate the tax implications of business, investment, and real estate activities and identify opportunities to improve tax efficiency
  • Research evolving federal and state tax requirements and advise leadership on potential business impacts
  • Serve as the primary internal point of contact for outside tax advisors, preparers, auditors, and other third-party professionals
  • Partner closely with accounting and finance teams to gather information, resolve tax matters, and maintain accurate reporting
  • Review tax accounting policies, procedures, and controls to help ensure reliable financial information and appropriate application of accounting principles
  • Coordinate with accounting on the timely payment and administration of real estate taxes
  • Support tax planning initiatives, special projects, and ad hoc financial analysis
  • Maintain organized documentation and appropriately safeguard confidential financial and tax information
  • Help leadership anticipate tax considerations as the company's portfolio and operations continue to evolve

Must-Haves as the Tax Manager

Bachelor's degree in Accounting

4-6+ years of direct tax experience within public accounting, corporate tax, or a combination of the two

Hands-on partnership tax experience, including preparation and/or substantive review of Form 1065 returns

Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state income tax compliance

Understanding of partnership ownership structures and the tax considerations associated with them

Strong foundation in tax accounting, accrual-basis accounting, and financial reporting

Experience coordinating multiple tax filings, deadlines, outside providers, and internal stakeholders

Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail

Advanced organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines

Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency

Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and appropriately handle highly confidential information

Nice-to-Haves as the Tax Manager

CPA license

Public accounting experience

Real estate tax experience

2-4+ years supporting real estate development, investment, private equity real estate, multifamily, homebuilding, or a related environment

Experience managing outsourced tax preparation relationships

Exposure to complex multi-entity or partnership structures

Experience advising internal accounting or finance teams on tax implications and compliance requirements
